In this document we will learn how can we setup/configure Microsoft Outlook for any email. here you can learn about the settings needs to be done and errors people usually gets while setting-up/configuring Outlook. we have covered all the settings and ports of incoming and outgoing servers. read the document till the end as we have shared some common errors with their solutions.
Step 1. Click Start>Office>Microsoft outlook to Launch your Microsoft Outlook or you can do it by typing outlook.exe in Run (To open “Run” Press windows logo key + R).
Or you can do it by typing “outlook.exe” in Run.
Step 2: Now click on Next or press Alt + N.
Step 3: Now click on Yes or Alt + Y and click on Next or Alt + N.
Step 4: Now click on first radio button to select “E-mail Account” and type your name, E-mail address”. Then type your password and Retype password and click on Next or Alt + N.

You might see this screen. Just wait it to finish.
Once done you will see congratulations! Like the image below. It means you have successful configured/setup your account in outlook. You can even do it by different method which is manually configured server settings or additional server types. Scroll down to read more.

how to Configure Outlook using “Manually Configured Server Settings or Additional Server Types” Option for gmail or any other email?
Step 1: on Add New Account screen click on radio button “Manually Configured Server Settings or Additional Server Types” or use Alt + M as shortcut keys and click on Next or use shortcut keys Alt + N.
Step 2: Let first radio button “Internet E-mail” be check and click on Next or use shortcut keys Alt + N.
Step 3: Now you will see this screen.
Now fill “User Information” see image below. Here you have to select “IMAP” from drop down menu in Account Type.
Step 4: Now Click on “Test Account Settings” to test your account settings.

Step 5: Click on more settings to make some more changes. After clicking on more settings click on “Outgoing Server” tab. Now check the checkbox “My outgoing server (SMTP) require authentication” and check first radio button which says “use same settings as my incoming mail server”.

Step 7: Now click on “Advanced” tab. Change the “incoming server (IMAP) to port: 993”.now selects SSL in drop down menu in “use the following type of encrypted connection:”
Now specifically first you have to select SSL in drop down menu “use the following type of encrypted connection:” of “Outgoing Server (SMTP): and then enter 465 as port no. see the image below.
Note : Port for incoming server “imap.gmail.com” for IMAP of gmail is 993 for SSL.
Port for Outgoing server “smtp.gmail.com” for SMTP of gmail is 465 for SSL.
Port for for Outgoing server “smtp.gmail.com” for SMTP of gmail is 587 for TLS/STARTTLS.
Port for incoming server “pop.gmail.com” for Pop3 of gmail is 995 for SSL.
Port for Outgoing server “smtp.gmail.com” for SMTP of gmail is 587 for SSL/ for TLS/STARTTLS.
Like this now click ok and click on Test settings again.
Now it will check the settings again and show you this message. Click on close. Now click on next of Alt + N.
Step 8: once you click on next you will see this same screen and after this you will see this welcome screen saying congratulations. See images below.
Like this now click on Finish.
